‘Without a Trace’ returned with fourth season on September 29, 2005 with the season opener ‘Showdown’. Third season ended with a cliffhanger and fourth season opened solving the same mystery. Martin and Danny survive and both are recuperating. Martin deals with near-fatal gunshot wounds whereas Danny struggles with PTSD. During the fourth season of series, a new member is introduced in the team- Elena Delgado. She’s a former NYPD vice squad officer who possesses an aggressive attitude. There is a secret behind her relationship with Danny which remained hidden until the season five. Jack loses his temper when Danny gets himself in an unnecessary danger. We also see Martin as he becomes addicted to painkillers. Jack develops a crush on the widow of a former mentor. Wendy Kim, a Korean woman disappears and the team gets involved in the investigation. James Costa is kidnapped in Mexico and when the team steps in to find out the truth, they discover that neither the Mexican authorities nor his wife seems willing to help them. A family gets shocked to know that their missing son was involved in gambling and was also seen with a drug dealer.

Later on this season, Jack discovers that his father wanted to be cremated. Investigation of the disappearance of Gina Hill, a therapist, exposes, that one of her patients may be involved in the mystery. Season ends on May 18, 2006 with the season finale entitled ‘Crossroads’. On this episode, we see that Jennifer Nichols, an attorney goes missing so the Missing Persons’ Squad is set to investigate the case. During investigation, the team suspects that she was having some doubts regarding her relationship with her boy friend Allen Davis. Meanwhile, Jack and Ann avoid discussing her pregnancy.
