Roselyn Sanchez was born on 2 April 1973 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has three elder brothers. She started studying marketing in the University of Puerto Rico. She had little interest in her studies, and left the course after three years. She was more inclined towards dancing and acting. She moved to New York City, to learn dancing, singing and acting. She was 21 at that time. She returned to Puerto Rico after this and made her first appearance in a movie. She is married to actor Eric Winter. Her first marriage with actor Gary Stretch was not successful, and they remained married from 1991 to 2001. After her separation from Gary, she had a relation with Victor Manuelle, a Puerto Rican singer.

She won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest in 1993 and Miss American petite in 1994. She has been listed in various beautiful women lists including ‘Hot 100′ by Maxim Magazine in the years 2001, 2002 and 2006 and ‘Top 99 most desirable women’ by AskMen.com in 2005 and 2006. She was also included in ‘100 Sexiest Women’ by FSH magazine in 2005 and 2006. She lends her support for animal rights and appeared nude in a PETA-ad in an anti-fur campaign. She is involved with Fundación de Niños San Jorge which helps sick children from poor families, as a spokesperson.

She made her debut in ‘Captain Ron’ in 1992 and in 2001she appeared in a hit movie ‘Rush Hour 2′ as “Isabella Molina“. She played the role of “Lorena” in ‘Chasing Papi’(2003),  the role of “Maria” in ‘Edison’ and the role of “Karen Lopez” in ‘Underclassman’. She had also acted in ‘Cayo‘, which is a Puerto Rican film. Her upcoming film is ‘Venus and Vegas‘ and she has also acted in the TV series ‘Without a Trace’.

She is also involved in music and her first musical release was ‘Borinqueña‘ (2003). Her first single ‘Amor Amor’ was nominated for a Latin Grammy for the Best Music Video. She has also appeared in the music videos, ‘Hidden Agenda’, ‘Personal’ and ‘Make Me Better’. She has composed and appeared in the musical film ‘Yellow‘.

She had been nominated in five awards, and won the ALMA Award in 2008 in the category of Outstanding Actress in a TV Drama Series for ‘Without a Trace’.
