Anthony LaPaglia was born on 31 January 1959 in Adelaide, South Australia. Australia. He is the son of auto Mechanic and Car dealer, Eddie LaPaglia and Maria, a secretary. One of his brothers Jonathon LaPaglia is also an actor while his other brother Michael, is a car wholesaler in Los Angeles.  He studied at the Rostrivor College. He began to do theatre in his teens and enrolled himself in the ‘South Australian Casting Agency’ for two and a half years course; but he left the course in middle. He is now living in Santa Monica, California with his wife Gia Carides and one daughter, Bridget. His first wife was Cherie Michan. He has acted in many films and a few TV shows.

He was a Geol-keeper in the National Soccer League in 1980’s and played for Adelaide City and West Adelaide. He is also a part owner of A-League Club, Sydney FC and he has been going up and down between Sydney and California to attend the matches since 2005. His interest in football helped him in narrating and executive producing the TV documentary ‘The Away Game’ ‘The Away Game’, covers the experiences of the Australian footballers in Europe.

He also appeared in many films like ‘Cold Steel’, ‘Betsy’s Wedding’, ‘Innocent Blood’, ‘So I Married an Axe Murderer’ and ‘The Client‘, ‘Trees Lounge’ , ‘Phoenix‘ , ‘Looking for Alibrandi’, ‘Lantana‘ , ‘Winter Solstice‘ , ‘Played‘ , ‘A View From The Bridge‘  and ‘Balibo‘.

He acted in TV shows like ‘Frasier‘, ‘Without a Trace’ and ‘Murder One’.  In 2004, he had a Hip Replacement surgery.  He later played for some amateur clubs in California. He also played to raise funds for Southern California wildfire relief in 2007. He plays football for the Hollywood United Football Team as a goalkeeper. He also holds some shares in International Goalkeepers Academy.

He won Golden Globe award in 2004 in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series- Drama for ‘Without a trace‘. He also won an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for ‘Frasier’ in 2002. He earned nominations in many other awards and has won total eight awards till now.

Role in Without a Trace

Anthony LaPaglia plays the role of “John ‘Jack’ Michael Malone” in ‘Without a Trace’ tv show. He is also known as “John Malone” or simply “Jack“. He is the lead agent in the FBI missing person’s case squad. He joined the US Army at the age of 18 and worked for 6 years in 82^nd Airborne Division. He lives with a guilt feeling because his mother committed suicide. He was just 16 at that time.

He developed illicit relationship with “Samantha Spade”. His wife has left him along with their two daughters, who now live with their mother. However, “Jack” is much concerned about his daughters. He later gets emotionally involved with “Anne“.

While investigating cases of human trafficking, Jack sustains injuries when the leader of the human trafficking ring shoots him. Later, Jack has some good news coming his way as his relationship with Sam is revived and his daughter Hannah is planning to come and live with him in New York.
